Lecturer / Senior Lecturer Business Management

Birmingham Newman University - School of Business and Law

Location: Birmingham
Salary: £38,784 to £58,226 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 2nd March 2026
Closes: 13th March 2026
Job Ref: NU1726

Birmingham Newman University is seeking to appoint Lecturers / Senior Lecturers in Business Management to undertake a distinctive academic role that combines subject expertise with sustained responsibility for collaborative partnership provision. These posts sit within the School of Business and Law and form a critical part of the University’s academic oversight and assurance model for partner-delivered programmes.

This is an opportunity for academically credible Business Management practitioners who are motivated by impact, responsibility and variety. The role combines teaching and student-facing activity on campus with a substantial focus on the academic oversight, support and enhancement of Business Management programmes delivered through collaborative partners. The post holders will work closely with the Academic Partnerships Lead and partnership staff to safeguard academic standards, ensure parity of student experience and maintain confidence in the University’s role as awarding body.

A significant element of the role involves regular engagement with partner institutions. This includes scheduled academic visits, participation in assurance activity, dialogue with partner teaching teams, and oversight of learning, teaching and assessment practice. Travel to partner sites, including some overnight stays, is an expected and integral feature of the role. Flexibility to support evening and weekend activity linked to delivery, recruitment and assurance is also required.

Alongside partnership responsibilities, post holders will contribute to the delivery of Business Management learning, teaching and research on campus. This will include designing and delivering modules aligned to subject expertise, supporting student learning and progression, and acting as an academic personal tutor. The role also contributes to student recruitment, outreach and conversion activity, ensuring strong alignment between campus provision and collaborative delivery.

The post holders will play an active role in academic quality assurance and enhancement. This includes contributing to programme boards, subject boards and other governance forums; supporting annual evaluation and action planning; engaging with external examiner processes; and ensuring that academic practice across all provision is robust, well-evidenced and defensible. The role requires sound academic judgement, professional credibility and the ability to work confidently across institutional and organisational boundaries.

We are seeking candidates with a strong foundation in Business Management subjects, the ability to teach across core subject areas, and a commitment to high-quality education. Experience of collaborative, partnership or off-campus provision is welcomed but not essential; applicants with the capability and motivation to develop in this area are encouraged to apply. What matters most is the ability to operate with academic authority, professionalism and adaptability in a role that spans multiple contexts.

These posts offer a rare opportunity to shape and strengthen collaborative provision within a values-driven university, while remaining grounded in teaching, student experience and academic community. They are well suited to individuals who enjoy responsibility, variety and purposeful academic work, and who are motivated by safeguarding standards, supporting colleagues and delivering positive outcomes for students wherever they study.

Informal enquiries about this opportunity are very welcome. Please contact Rana Ali at Rana.Ali@staff.newman.ac.uk, to discuss the role further.
