This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team within the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cambridge. 

Applications are invited for a full-time apprentice supporting the Secretary to the Degree Committee. This position offers a hybrid working pattern, combining both remote and in-office work at the Clinical School on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

The Degree Committee (DC) office team is comprised of the Secretary to the Committee, the Postgraduate Education Administrator, and the Postgraduate Administrator. The DC Office remit is to support the Committee in its responsibility to oversee postgraduate student recruitment, progression, examination and degree award. 

The apprentice will report to the Postgraduate Administrator and support the work of the Degree Committee office, including preparation of committee papers, dispatch of theses and monitoring of thesis submission. The role holder will also manage the thesis submission site, the database and communications site, and manage information and guidance to students, departments and academics. Alongside this, the role holder will also work with the Secretary to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Committee including preparation of committee papers, dispatch of theses and monitoring of thesis submission.

The success of the role is reliant on good relationships with course directors, postgraduate administrators and internal and external examiners to manage the examination processes. 

The role is vital in ensuring that the Clinical School provides an efficient, high quality administrative service in key areas of Degree Committee work in the execution of its responsibilities. 

The successful applicant will possess excellent communication, administrative and IT skills (particularly Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams and confidence in cloud-based technologies) and be prepared to work on their own initiative and to support all members of the team if required. Close attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are essential along with exceptional organisational and time management abilities.
