Background and Context
A Research Assistant is sought to provide dedicated support to our ongoing European Innovation Council Pathfinder award to develop a novel, first-of-its-kind, aptamer-based LYTAC to address the unmet clinical need of diabetic wounds. The APTADEGRAD Pathfinder project involves partners from the UK, Spain, Portugal and Belgium, spanning industry and academia. We seek a talented Research Assistant to join the UK research team, undertaking in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo studies. This is a fixed term-post for 2 years and will involve close interdisciplinary working project partners across Europe.
This post provides an exciting opportunity to join the rapidly growing Wound Innovation Institute team at the University of Hull (UoH). You will be based at Castle Hill Hospital in our state-of-the-art research laboratories which have recently undergone a £1M+ refurbishment programme. The UoH has ambitious plans to significantly develop inter-disciplinary skin and wound research and innovation activity, supported by £16M Research England investment in technology and capabilities, growing our high-quality research and delivering long-term patient benefit. The Wound Innovation Centre vision is to deliver real-world benefit through partnership, innovation and interdisciplinarity ensuring patients are at the heart of everything we do.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post
The Research Assistant will apply a range of wound-relevant models to explore the efficacy and safety of novel aptamer-based LYTACs for promotion of healing in pathological wound repair. You will interface with our European partners to direct LYTAC design and evaluation, working closely with clinical groups within the Medical School and colleagues across the University. You will be responsible for day-to-day delivery of the research project, planning activities of support staff and in turn supporting others. The position requires excellent scientific communication, organisation, presentation and writing skills.
