Bournemouth University - Human Resources and Organisational Development

Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £58,225 to £65,509
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 10th March 2026
Closes: 24th March 2026
About the role

When you join BU, you become part of a learning community that strives to make a positive impact on the world around us – aiming for a more sustainable, inclusive and healthy society. Our motto, “To learn is to change,” runs through everything we do. As a valued colleague, you will be supported in both your personal and professional development, empowering you to thrive and reach your full potential.

The opportunity

As part of BU’s journey towards BU2035, we are accelerating digital transformation across the employee lifecycle. This role sits at the heart of that ambition.

Based within the Human Resources & Organisational Development Service, you will provide leadership and expertise across our core HR technology landscape — including iTrent, Eploy, and our developing Power BI analytics environment. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver our technological roadmap, enabling smarter processes, insightful workforce analytics and reporting and a consistently excellent employee experience. Through your work and that of your team, you will support a data- and intelligence-led HR service, helping drive insight, evidence-based decision-making, and measurable impact across the university.

You will lead the optimisation of system capability, champion automation and self-service, and steer business change that transforms how HR and the wider university work. As the HR systems owner, you will play an influential role across key committees, digital transformation projects and strategic initiatives, ensuring HR technologies evolve in line with institutional, sector and technological developments.

About you

You are an experienced information systems professional with a strong background in HR or OD technologies, ideally including hands-on knowledge of iTrent, Eploy, or similar enterprise HR solutions. You bring:

  • Proven experience driving forward transformational system and process change.
  • Strong leadership of workforce analytics, with a keen interest in building capability through Power BI dashboards and data models.
  • Excellent vendor and contract management skills, with confidence in managing suppliers and system roadmaps.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and analytical skills, enabling you to work collaboratively across a large and complex organisation.
  • The ability to operate within a broad strategic framework, balancing long-term vision with practical delivery.‑

You’ll be someone who thrives on improving systems, enhancing data quality, and identifying opportunities for better digital experiences. Above all, you bring curiosity, resilience, and the desire to make a real impact.

Why join us?

BU is proud to be a diverse and inclusive place to work, study and visit. We encourage applications on a full-time, part-time or flexible working basis, supported by our hybrid working trial. We understand the importance of balancing work and life and actively promote a supportive, healthy working culture.
