About the role

The Centre for Languages Culture and Communication (CLCC) at Imperial College is looking for a full-time Coordinator of Spanish to join the management team for Languages. As an experienced teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language & Manager in Higher Education, you will join an established team of Language Coordinators who work on the I-Explore and Horizons undergraduate programmes as well as on our Imperial after:hours (adult education) programme.

Reporting to the Languages Field Leader, the role involves leading a team of teaching fellows and teaching undergraduate students from a scientific, technical, or medical background. You will have overall responsibility for the management of the Spanish IWLP provision, ensuring there is adequate professional teaching resource to meet all service requirements.

The Language Coordinator is part of a team which contributes to the institutional Teaching & Learning Strategy by offering a high-quality language teaching service tailored to Imperial students’ needs and by implementing improvements and innovative proposals in the Languages Section of the CLCC.

What you will be doing

  • Leading, planning & development of Spanish courses, including materials and syllabuses across all levels.
  • Maintaining and developing the virtual learning environment & digital resources.
  • Delivering high-quality teaching using varied pedagogical & digital methods.
  • Setting, standardizing, and managing assessment and examination processes.
  • Assessing student work and providing constructive feedback.
  • Liaising with the external examiner & preparing assessment samples.
  • Line‑managing the Spanish teaching team, including recruitment & staff development.
  • Representing the Spanish team at internal meetings & events.
  • Developing links with external language departments & organizations.

What we are looking for

  • Degree in Spanish plus relevant postgraduate/professional qualifications.
  • Extensive experience teaching Spanish in the UK higher education.
  • Experience designing syllabi, materials and assessments (A1–C1/C2).
  • Academic management experience and strong digital literacy.
  • Native or near‑native Spanish competence.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical & communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, flexibly and independently.
