Middlesex University is seeking an effective and proactive Faculty Marketing Officer to act as the key marketing business partner for an assigned academic faculty. Reporting to the Faculty Marketing Manager, the Faculty Marketing Officer will play a pivotal role in aligning the University’s Student Recruitment, Marketing & Communications directorate with faculty priorities, student recruitment targets and academic strengths.
This position is crucial in supporting the Faculty to achieve its student recruitment objectives across undergraduate, postgraduate and non-standard provision, including CPD programmes and apprenticeships. The Faculty Marketing Officer will develop an in-depth understanding of their assigned faculty’s subject portfolio, competitive landscape and target audiences. This insight will inform tailored, data-driven marketing and recruitment plans that enhance brand positioning, student engagement and overall reputation.
Acting as the primary liaison between the directorate and faculty, the Faculty Marketing Officer will build strong, trusted relationships with academic and professional services colleagues. Through proactive collaboration and regular engagement, including faculty drop-in sessions, they will identify opportunities, address challenges and ensure marketing activity is coordinated, impactful and aligned to institutional goals. Working closely with directorate colleagues, including digital, CRM, web, content and PR teams, the Faculty Marketing Officer will produce and deliver integrated marketing and recruitment plans at faculty, department and course level. They will contribute to the development of CRM campaigns to ensure alignment with faculty priorities and maximise impact across the prospective student journey.
The postholder will act as the principal source of marketing content for the faculty, producing creative, high-quality copy tailored to specific audiences and channels. They will manage the production of faculty marketing materials both online and offline, oversee website content to ensure it remains engaging and up to date, and coordinate content on third-party platforms. Identifying stories with PR potential, they will liaise with the PR team to enhance visibility and reputation.
The Faculty Marketing Officer will use data and market insight to inform planning, set measurable KPIs and report on the effectiveness and impact of marketing activities. Monitoring competitor activity within relevant subject areas, they will use insight to strengthen the faculty’s market presence and distinctiveness. In collaboration with the events and recruitment teams, the Faculty Marketing Officer will coordinate and advise on the faculty’s presence at Open Days, Offer Holder Days and other recruitment-focused events, both in-person and online. They will proactively recommend enhancements to maximise impact and ensure faculty events and initiatives are fully leveraged for marketing and recruitment benefit.
The role also involves managing relationships with partners and third parties linked to course provision and marketing within the faculty, producing activity reports for faculty stakeholders, and working collaboratively with other Faculty Marketing Officers to share best practice and identify opportunities for joint initiatives.
