The Student Engagement Coordinator (SEC) will focus on student flourishing through community building in the dimensions of student leadership development, student leadership advising, clubs and societies, and volunteer programming.
Leadership Development & Coordination (40%)
- Create and implement a co‑curricular leadership framework to support emerging and established student leaders.
- Develop NYU London’s structure for student clubs, societies, and organisations, including founding processes, governance bylaws, officer elections, and guidance on accessing university resources.
- Build advising models, programming structures, budget processes, and space‑management guidelines for student organisations.
- Co‑advise clubs/societies in partnership with Student Engagement Administrators, faculty, and other staff.
- Advise Global Site Ambassadors and other assigned leadership roles.
- Lead/advise the First Year Student Council in collaboration with Academic Affairs.
- Co‑maintain NYU London’s relationship with the London School of Economics (LSE) Students’ Union, supporting cross‑institutional connections.
- Create and support special‑interest groups for underrepresented student identities.
Student Engagement & Service Programming (35%)
- Design and deliver programming that strengthens leadership development and co‑curricular learning.
- Build and maintain partnerships with external organisations to expand NYU London’s volunteer and service opportunities.
- Imagine and shape the long‑term vision for the Service Opportunities programme, including learning outcomes and the student journey through service.
- Co‑manage programme budgets with the Student Engagement Manager.
- Collaborate with the Student Engagement Coordinator for Culture & Community on key events and community initiatives.
- Serve as a chaperone for student day trips and overnight excursions.
Supervision (15%)
- Provide leadership and oversight for Student Engagement functions as assigned by the Student Engagement Manager.
- Supervise one Student Engagement Administrator, setting priorities and supporting their work, with a focus on leadership and volunteer programming.
General Student Life Duties (10%)
- Support Student Life operations during peak periods such as orientations, arrivals, key events, and departures.
- Provide front‑desk reception cover when needed.
- Serve in the Student Life on‑call duty rota, responding to urgent situations and collaborating with senior staff on emergency response.
- Refer students to appropriate university resources, including student support, counselling, accessibility services, and academic resources.
- Complete tasks assigned by Student Life Managers, Associate Dean of Students, or Deputy Site Director.
- Work non‑traditional hours—including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays—during high‑demand periods.
- Be available during urgent or emergency situations to support student and staff wellbeing.
