About the role:

Do you have experience in clinical research management and want to support delivery of the largest NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) in the country and shape the future of clinical research at Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust?

The NIHR Imperial BRC is hosted by Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in partnership with Imperial College London and provides the infrastructure – human and technological – to conduct early-stage experimental medicine.

We collaborate extensively with industry, other funding agencies, and with colleagues across the NIHR infrastructure. Our patients and volunteers are closely involved in the design and delivery of research, and the BRC invests heavily in skills and training for the clinical academics of tomorrow.

The NIHR Imperial BRC supports research across 14 Themes, linked by four common threads:

  • Early diagnosis – developing new tests and improving current testing to speed up diagnosis and allow earlier treatment,
  • Precision medicine – tailoring treatment to a patient’s specific needs to improve outcomes,
  • Digital health – using computer technology to provide clinicians with more accurate information for better treatment and allow patients to manage their health,
  • Convergence science – bringing different scientific fields together to provide new perspectives and solve complex health research challenges.

What you would be doing:

As a Research Programmes Manager for the NIHR Imperial BRC, you will be responsible for driving the successful delivery of individual clinical and biomedical research projects and programmes within and across a number of BRC Themes, on time and to budget.

You will also be responsible for capturing and disseminating evidence of the success, delivery, and impact of the BRC. You will help formulate narratives for annual reports and play a key role in the development of the BRC re-application in 2027/28.

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrable contributions to the successful delivery of biomedical research projects or programmes (either as part of a research team, programme manager, or administrative support)
  • Experience of coordinating complex funding bids e.g. multi-Principal Investigator (PI) strategic bids in response to calls from funding bodies.
  • Experience of coordinating/contributing to funder reports
  • Knowledge of biomedical / clinical research pathways, operations, funding and terminology

  • Understanding of the scientific process including grant applications, peer review, publications, intellectual property and career progression
  • Understanding of the value of Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement in clinical research
  • Familiarity with the research impact agenda and/or experience of compiling impact case studies

What we can offer you:

  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
  • Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 41 days’ annual leave and generous pension schemes).
