The Department of Physiology, Development & Neuroscience is seeking a skilled professional to manage our Human Anatomy Centre (HAC). The HAC encompasses the Human Dissection Room (HDR) along with the Bequeathal and Teaching offices in the Anatomy Building. The Centre delivers first and second year anatomy and neuroanatomy courses to an intake of 320 undergraduate preclinical medical students each year, supports third year anatomical research projects, and hosts anatomy revision sessions for clinical students, as well as external training courses for a wide range of medical professionals.
Reporting to the Business and Operations Manager, you will lead a team of five staff members, both technical and administrative. You will support the University Clinical Anatomists and the Neuroscience course organisers to provide technical and administrative support for teaching, research, examinations, and external courses. The role manages the day-to-day operations of the HAC, including overseeing the preservation of cadavers and prosected specimens, record management, and ensuring robust health and safety compliance across all HDR activities.
As the HAC Manager, you will act as the Designated Individual under the Human Tissue Act, working collaboratively with the Persons Designated to maintain full regulatory compliance and manage all HTA records. Key responsibilities also include overseeing the body donation programme and managing the HAC budget.
The successful candidate will hold a first degree in anatomy or a biomedical discipline, possess strong knowledge of human anatomy, and have experience handling human tissue. We are seeking someone with demonstrable leadership abilities who can contribute to a high-performing and inclusive team, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
