About Us

The Anatomy Department at King’s has a rich history, exceptional facilities, and world-class, progressive educators and researchers. Our expertise in topographical and clinical anatomy, education and science, cell & developmental biology, tissue engineering & imaging, fuel our modern, research-led education delivery. We are a collaborative multidisciplinary department working to understand the structure and function of the human body, from cells to organ systems, including development, ageing and evolution.

Anatomy is a fundamental subject in the biomedical sciences that fosters creativity and curiosity. We are proud to use traditional dissection coupled with cutting-edge technology and imaging in our education practice, developing widely transferrable practical abilities, as well as skills in exploration and observation, documentation and communication.

About The Role

Anatomy Demonstrators teach and supervise undergraduate students in the Department of Anatomy and the Biosciences, as well as those students studying Dental, Medical and Physiotherapy programmes. This is done via tutorial, dissections and other classes. Demonstrators are also involved in the teaching of external groups (e.g. osteopathic medicine, sport therapy, nursing etc.). They may be required occasionally to assist in the setting and marking of “spot” examinations.  Some of our Demonstrators are also required to design, teach and assess a series of tutorials on the Advanced Human Anatomy module. All Demonstrators are required to manage prosections to be used for teaching.

Demonstrators are briefed on the requirements for teaching by the individual module leads. Dissection classes are led by an academic staff member. There is help and supervision for your personal research and publication submissions, a chance to supervise projects and take a position in the Alcock anatomical society. Demonstrators pursuing examinations such as the MRCS can receive free in-house training and advice from our experienced faculty. Reasonable time will be given to sit professional examinations and to attend recognised courses of study.

This post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract for 9 months, from 1st September 2026 to 31st May 2027.

This is a part-time post but teaching occurs daily during term-time. The position allows scope for locums (arranged by you) and we offer additional teaching opportunities for external institutions, on our site, paid at a considerably higher hourly rate than your contracted amount.

Reasonable time will be given to sit professional examinations and to attend recognised courses of study.
