About the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to join the Cancer Metabolism and Systems Toxicology Group, led by Professor Hector Keun. Our research focuses on understanding the links between metabolism and health, with particular emphasis on the early life exposome and metabolic interventions for cancer treatment and prevention. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge metabolomics research within a world‑leading institution.

What you would be doing:

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering research programmes in metabolism, supporting project management and contributing to the supervision of multidisciplinary teams. You will work across mammalian cell culture, mass spectrometry–based metabolomics, and advanced statistical and computational analyses of large biological datasets.

You will also support the maintenance of laboratory equipment and sample banks, ensuring full compliance with documentation and safety standards. As an active member of the research community, you will be expected to publish in high‑quality journals, present at conferences, and contribute to securing external research funding.

  • Lead and contribute to the planning and contribute to the planning and execution of research projects.
  • Supervise and support students and small research teams.
  • Develop and optimise techniques for data collection and analysis.
  • Conduct rigorous data analysis and maintain high standards of data integrity.
  • Prepare reports for sponsors and present findings at internal and external meetings.
  • Publish research outcomes in reviewed journals.
  • Build collaborations within Imperial and the wider scientific community.
  • Contribute to grant applications and the strategic development of the Group’s research portfolio.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Further Information

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), this role is for a fixed-term contract for 6 months.
