Job description:
Salary: Research Assistant - £33,951 to £35,608 per annum
Research Associate - £36,636 to £37,694 per annum
The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant/Associate to join our interdisciplinary team tackling critical challenges in antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This exciting role is part of an MRC-funded project investigating the epidemic potential of key human gastrointestinal pathogens across the urban interface – encompassing environmental, animal, food, and human sources within major metropolitan areas in Southeast Asia (SEA), focusing on Manila (Philippines) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). This position will be based at the School of Engineering at Newcastle University, focusing on developing models to predict AMR/transmission for epidemic preparedness and to identify biomarkers for diagnostic and therapy.
As part of our commitment to career development for research colleagues, the University has developed 3 levels of research role profiles. These profiles set out firstly the generic competences and responsibilities expected of role holders at each level and secondly the general qualifications and experiences needed for entry at a particular level.
