Department
As a joint medical school of the Universities of Hull and York, we have a reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting, contemporary schools. Our innovative curriculum and focus on problem based learning and early and sustained clinical exposure ensure that students on our MB BS programme develop the problem solving, analytical and communication skills and resilience needed to deliver a high standard of care to people with complex needs and from a variety of backgrounds. The School has recently completed an expansion following a successful bid to expand the number of undergraduate medical student places and has implemented the Medical Licensing Assessment. We therefore have an ambitious strategy for growth for the future. A key component of this future strategy is the development of education programmes.
The Hull York Medical School has a growing international reputation for high quality research and combined with our commitment to education and an overall outstanding student experience makes this a great place to work. The School received an Athena SWAN Gold Award in 2025 and was ranked no 3 in the 2026 Guardian League Table for Medicine. Further information about the School can be found on our website: www.hyms.ac.uk.
