Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral Research Associate to investigate the molecular and cellular changes in schizophrenia. The position is based in the Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics in the Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences at Cardiff University. This project is funded by a Wellcome Mental Health Award entitled “The glue that holds the pieces together: Unlocking Cognitive Health in Psychotic Disorders”, and the post-holder will be part of a larger team based in the Universities of Bath, Cambridge, Oxford, UCL and Jena (Germany).
In this role, you will:
• Use omics techniques (scRNA-seq, proteomics) to investigate the molecular and cellular changes in preclinical models for schizophrenia
• Work with the wider project team to integrate these findings with human data
• Contribute to the overall research performance of the School and University by the production of measurable outputs including publishing in academic journals and presenting at international conferences
We’d like to hear from you if you:
• Hold a postgraduate degree at PhD level in a related subject area (transcriptomics, disease models) or equivalent, and/or have relevant industrial experience
• Can demonstrate knowledge of the current status of research in the molecular and cell biology of schizophrenia
• Have a proven ability to publish in national journals and/or other research outputs
This post is based at the Hadyn Ellis Building, Cathays campus.
