About the Role
Queen Mary University of London has launched an ambitious and comprehensive programme of work to transform its information security services within IT Services and across the University as a whole.
The Information Security Manager is at the forefront of the University’s vulnerability management and cyber risk management, responsible for threat assessment and information security risk assessment. The Information Security Manager will work in partnership with senior leaders to manage information security risk through application of effective security controls. In addition, as team manager this role has ownership of the maintenance of multiple formal compliance frameworks including Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus in support of university business. Preventative risk management activity conducted by the Information Security Manager's team also contributes directly to QMUL's ISO 27001 Information Security Management System. Working with colleagues across IT Services and the wider University, the ISM ensures that Queen Mary technology and information assets are safeguarded against a wide range of internal and external security threats.
This leadership role also works closely with the Head of Information Security to leverage security tooling and process in support of preventative security, and is responsible for service design and delivery.
The Information Security Manager will understand the importance of teamwork and readily supports other team members. They will also be able to set priorities and deliver specific services and projects for which they are individually responsible for, with minimal supervision.
About You
As leader of the Information Security Team, reporting to the Head of Information Security, the Information Security Manager will lead and develop the established function to deliver a range of security services across the University including, but not limited to, risk assessment, vulnerability management, and development of processes around management information and reporting. The Information Security Manager will also work closely with colleagues in other specialist security roles including security operations, security architecture, security awareness, and governance risk and compliance in order to drive towards security outcomes and lower institutional risk.

IT Services is the technology function within QMUL Professional Services, comprised of a number of specialist technology teams, including Cyber Security.
