This role works within the The Proctors' Office as part of the student misconduct team. We are a friendly and supportive team which works on a wide variety of cases. We are looking for an experienced manager to oversee a team of investigators. The remit of the team is non-academic misconduct which includes harassment and sexual misconduct. 

The Proctors’ Office is an impartial and discrete institution within the University, made up of a permanent team that advises and supports the annually elected Proctors and the Assessor in their work. The two Proctors and the Assessor are senior officers and trustees of the University, each elected by a college, typically from amongst its fellowship, to serve for a one-year period. They are given considerable powers to act on the University’s behalf in matters of central importance to its functioning and its reputation.

About the Role

The Senior Casework Manager will manage a team of Specialist Investigators who conduct investigations into student misconduct, including serious sexual misconduct, and other complex complaints about non-academic misconduct. They will oversee the entire caseload and be responsible for investigating the most complex cases and advising staff. They will ensure individual student cases are managed in a professional and proportionate manner, and in accordance with the relevant University regulations, policies and codes of practice, and consistent with the expectations of the Office for Students (OfS) and the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA).

About You

The successful candidate will have specialist knowledge and skills in investigation, excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills, and will be able to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the relevant rules and regulations as well as the University’s education policy framework and governance structure. They will be expected to make well-informed, timely and defensible recommendations on student cases and to work closely with senior decision-makers as well as students and staff across the collegiate University, providing advice on relevant University procedures, decisions and risk assessment, demonstrating tact, discretion and judgement in the handling of often highly sensitive and confidential matters.
