Role overview
We are looking for a proactive and customer‑focused professional to join the University of Sunderland in London as a Student Journey Officer. This role plays a key part in delivering efficient, high‑quality services that support our students on their journey with us.

The position suits someone who thrives in a busy environment, manages competing priorities confidently, and values excellent service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a high-quality, student-centred enquiry service for international students, resolving queries or escalating where needed.
  • Provide accurate and efficient administrative support across the student lifecycle (enrolment to graduation).
  • Coordinate and support communications and engagement activities to enhance the international student experience.
  • Maintain accurate student records, ensuring compliance with university policies and regulations (e.g. GDPR, safeguarding).
  • Monitor student attendance and proactively support ‘at risk’ students, escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure a seamless, joined-up student service.
  • Support the planning, promotion and delivery of events and activities for international students.

Essential Requirements

  • Educated to A-level standard (or equivalent).
  • Experience in an administrative and customer-focused role.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear advice and guidance.
  • Competence in IT systems including Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to problem-solve, take ownership of enquiries, and escalate complex issues appropriately.
  • Experience in a customer‑focused or administrative role.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with international students in a support role in Further or Higher Education.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements in relation to international students.
