Senior Lecturer in Medical Education (Clinical Assessment and Academic Support)

Are you experienced in the development and delivery of clinical assessments (Objectively Structured Clinical Examinations – OSCEs)? Are you in current clinical practice? Do you have experience of deliver high quality teaching and assessment in a variety of settings, developing critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills in students? We are seeking an inspirational educator and role model to lead the development and delivery of clinical assessments (Objectively Structured Clinical Examinations – OSCEs) and, alongside other colleagues, oversee and provide academic support to those students who struggle to pass assessments, or who are returning from interruption.

The role will involve working on the campus sites of both the partner universities in Canterbury and Medway and conducting extensive liaison work with placement providers based across Kent and Medway.

The salary will be benchmarked pro rata to the NHS pay scale appropriate to the successful candidate’s clinical discipline and level in clinical practice.

As Senior Lecturer in Medical Education (Clinical Assessment and Academic Support) you can expect to be involved in: 

• Using experience of clinical practice, deliver and contribute to the design of high-quality, demand-driven, and student-centred taught programmes as a member of the teaching team.
• collaborating with teaching and learning faculty, to lead and deliver OSCE assessment content and practice.
• Undertaking additional leadership roles within the School, as determined by the line manager, and participate in the School’s citizenship responsibilities, including committee membership, staff development, and contribution to institutional strategic priorities.

What will you bring to the role?

• A primary medical qualification and full registration with the GMC, with a current licence to practise 
• In current clinical practice within NHS and commitment to remain in clinical practice for the duration of the KMMS contract 
• Fellowship/Membership of an appropriate Royal College 
• Current entry on the Specialist Register or GP Register or any other statutory register required to practice and maintain accreditation with a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent
