Company description:
We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
Job description:
The Role
This is a three-year post, with a primary focus on developing and delivering teaching to medical students undergoing year 3 of the new community-based programme (NUCom). This is an innovative programme in which 12 students (initially) spend most of their time in general practice and the community rather than in hospital. Teaching is planned to take place on Mondays and candidates will need to be available on this day. Teaching Fellows are involved in other aspects of medical education such as selection and recruitment, examining and undertaking educational research projects.
The University has developed Academic Job Summary Guidance which summarises the range of activities that academic staff may be expected to perform. Academic staff are not expected to be discharging all of the activities all of the time and the actual duties and activities that academic staff are expected to carry out will be determined by the Head of Academic Unit.
The University has developed a Teaching and Scholarship Role Profiles.pdf document which summarises the range of activities that colleagues may be expected to perform.
Candidates wishing to discuss the post may contact Professor Hugh Alberti, Sub-Dean for Primary and Community Care via hugh.alberti@newcastle.ac.uk or Dr Nikki Franc, Co-Lead of NUCom, via nicola.franc@newcastle.ac.uk.
