Would you like to support the development of undergraduate medicine at KMMS? Are you in current hospital clinical practice? Do you have experience in nurturing the professional development of undergraduate medical students? If so, we’d love an application from you.

We are seeking an inspirational educator and role model to oversee the delivery and ongoing development of Year 3 of the BM BS programme. This is an exciting role for an experienced clinical educator to help lead the advancement of the clinical practice elements of our programme by engaging with a wide range of partners. Given the shift in year 3 to more clinical workplace-based learning, the role involves supporting students in this transition.

The role will involve working on the campus sites of both the partner universities in Canterbury & Medway and conducting extensive liaison work with placement providers based across Kent & Medway.

The salary will be benchmarked pro-rata to the NHS pay scale appropriate to the successful candidate’s clinical discipline & level in clinical practice.

As Senior Lecturer in Medical Education (Academic Lead for Year 3) you can expect to be involved in:

  • Using experience of clinical practice, deliver & contribute to the design of high-quality, demand-driven, and student-centred taught programmes as a member of the teaching team.
  • Liaising with academic and professional staff to lead the development and organisation sufficient clinical placement capacity within Year 3 of the BMBS programme, ensuring that teaching is informative, interactive and engaging.
  • Liaising with and support Module, Subject, Student Selected Component and Vertical Theme Leads to ensure delivery of curriculum and associated assessments to a high standard.
  • Support the pastoral & educational needs of students in this important milestone year

What will you bring to the role?

  • A primary medical qualification and full registration with the GMC, with a current licence to practise 
  • In current clinical practice within the NHS and commitment to remain in clinical practice for the duration of the KMMS contract 
  • Fellowship/Membership of an appropriate Royal College 
  • Current entry on the Specialist Register required to practice and maintain accreditation with a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent
