About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior/Advanced Exercise and Health Practitioner with strong expertise in teaching, mentoring and applied professional practice to join our Sport and Wellbeing Academy (SAWA) at NTU. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and deliver specialist exercise and health programmes that benefit both NTU students and the wider community.
The post holder will play a central role in the leadership, development and delivery of SAWA's exercise referral, clinical exercise and community wellbeing programmes. You will manage and deliver a range of initiatives including clinical exercise interventions for adults and physical activity programmes in schools. A key part of the role involves mentoring students through assessed work-like experiences, ensuring they gain valuable industry exposure within an exercise referral setting. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in delivering exercise interventions across diverse populations, liaising with external partners and delivering high-quality, evidence-based services. Experience in mentoring, clinical exercise delivery and/or working with schools is also required. At the higher grade, responsibilities will include leading and mentoring the Senior Exercise and Health Practitioner.
Join us in shaping the future of applied sport and wellbeing education while making a meaningful impact in the community.
For more details, please take a look at the role profile. We'll still consider applications even if you don't meet every single one of the requirements, so don't be put off if you don't match them perfectly.
Interview date: 7th May 2026 - In person Interviews

By offering a diverse range of opportunities, including hands-on placements, industry-led workshops, and access to cutting-edge facilities, the academy is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical education and practical application. Therefore, aiming to enhance employability, foster personal and professional growth, and support students in their journey from education to employment.
The services provided by SAWA are provided on a not-for-profit basis to referred members of the local community, students, staff (kept to a minimum), schools and community groups, providing a vital service at no additional cost to the NHS and local authority therefore operating as an effective ecosystem.
SAWA operates in person and is based within Erasmus Darwin Building, Clifton campus, providing a professional environment for clients, staff and students. The current facilities were officially opened in November 2023.
