About the role:

Are you an experienced Divisional Manager looking for a varied and fast-paced role in a leading academic environment? As Divisional Manager within the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College London, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Division of Surgery. Working closely with academic and professional services colleagues, you will help deliver operational priorities and ensure high-quality support across finance, research, and human resources.

What you would be doing:

In this role, you will oversee the effective delivery of professional services across the Division, ensuring a responsive and high-quality service to academic and research staff. You will work closely with the Director of Operations and academic leads to support financial management, coordinate research activity, and implement efficient administrative processes.

You will lead and support a team of professional services staff, setting clear objectives and creating a collaborative, high-performing working environment. You will also build strong working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders, including colleagues across the Department, Faculty and University, as well as NHS partners and external funders.

What we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

We are looking for a proactive and organised individual with strong operational and people management experience. You will bring:

  • Experience of managing and developing staff, including setting objectives and supporting performance
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of financial management and reporting
  • Experience of supporting or managing research grant activity, including application processes and post-award management
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a complex organisation (e.g. higher education, NHS or similar)
