Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range £58,225 to £67,468 with potential progression once in post to £87,974 or as this vacancy has limited funding the maximum salary that can be offered is Grade 9.

The Advanced Research Computing (ARC) Service Manager is a senior operational and leadership role within IT Services, supporting the delivery of world‑class research computing infrastructure to thousands of researchers across the University. Working as part of the highly regarded ARC team, the postholder will play a key role in the success of major services and programmes including ARC, BEAR, Baskerville NCR and future regional or national research platforms.

Reporting to the Head of ARC, the role focuses on coordinating planning, delivery, performance, risk, and finances across a complex portfolio of high‑impact services. The postholder will work closely with technical, operational, research and professional services colleagues to ensure effective service delivery, early identification and mitigation of issues, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities span programme and project coordination, financial oversight, performance reporting, service quality, and user support, as well as line management and support for strategic business cases and funding proposals.

This role is ideal for an experienced service or programme manager who thrives in a collaborative environment and is motivated by enabling cutting‑edge research through robust, well‑managed digital infrastructure.
