The Corporate and Professional Services departments are the cornerstone of the University. They each provide essential and valuable support to both each other and the Academic departments, helping the University to function in the most efficient and productive way, ensuring that the students’ experience is second to none.

The Role

You will be responsible for carrying out fire door inspections, repairs, installations and fire stopping works across a range of university building across the campus, ensuring all works comply with current fire safety legislation, standards and best practice.

This site-based role, working as part of the Compliance and Health and Safety department, to ensure that high standards of quality, safety, and professionalism are upheld.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire doors
  • Survey, inspection and installation and remediation of fire stopping systems
  • Completing works in line with relevant regulations and certification requirements
  • Accurate completion of reports, certificates, and job documentation
  • Liaising professionally with departments and colleagues
  • Ensuring all works are completed safely and to a high standard

Essential Requirements

  • Fire Door and/or Fire Stopping qualification – (Essential)
  • Proven experience within fire door maintenance and fire stopping works (Essential)
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations and compliance standards
  • Ideally full UK driving licence (due to the nature of the role).
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Good record keeping skills

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Additional fire safety or passive fire protection qualifications
  • Experience working in facilities or maintenance roles

Experience:

  • Fire Door or Fire Stopping: 1 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Fire Door and/or Fire Stopping qualification (required)

Work Location: In person on campus
