Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield
Main duties and responsibilities
You will be responsible for all administration associated with Research Degrees students, with specific responsibility for the administration of PGR students in the School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (HMLS). You will act as clerk at any designated meetings and assist with the development and implementation of administrative procedures for research students.
You will assist with all matters relating to the admission and enrolment of research students as well as setting up and maintaining the student records. You will advise students on non-academic matters, providing advice on internal sources of guidance and where possible to help resolve individual problems, which may involve liaison with external bodies. You will also liaise with departments across the University, including Finance and Human Resources.
Skills and experience required
You will have a methodical approach and attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure to tight deadlines. Your application will evidence good IT skills and that you are numerate and literate. You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of customer care including a polite, helpful and confident telephone manner. Appropriate proven administrative experience in a complex and dynamic organisation and experience of working in Higher Education administration is desirable.
The ability to collect, process and present complex data is key. Tact and diplomacy, with the ability to deal with sensitive material with strict confidentiality is crucial. You will be flexible and adaptable to team and workload requirements, effective in a team setting, and have a can-do attitude to problem solving. You will be able to demonstrate initiative and the ability to learn new skills.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of A-levels or equivalent, or proven professional work experience.
