We have an exciting opportunity to join the Oxford Martin AI Governance Initiative (AIGI) as a Postdoctoral Researcher in AI and law.
The Oxford Martin AI Governance Initiative seeks to improve the impact of artificial intelligence on global societal outcomes through high‑quality, policy‑relevant research grounded in the social and computational sciences. The Initiative is internationally recognised for its work at the intersection of AI, governance and public policy.
The postholder will undertake research on legal aspects of AI governance, working closely with colleagues across the Initiative. Research areas may include domestic and international AI regulation, how existing legal frameworks can be adapted to address AI, and the impact of AI on the rule of law and democratic governance. Projects will be agreed collaboratively and aligned with the Initiative’s research priorities and the postholder’s expertise.
The role combines independent academic research with policy‑facing activity. The postholder will be expected to publish research outputs, contribute to research funding proposals and reports, engage with external stakeholders such as governments, international organisations and standards bodies, and participate in seminars, workshops and public events.
The post is fixed‑term for 1 year and is full‑time.
