About us
King’s Language Centre at King’s College London is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Latin Language Education. This is a full-time and permanent post for Classical language teaching predominantly for the Department of Classics.
The Department of Classics at King’s College London is one of the largest Classics Departments in the UK, with expertise in areas from the Aegean Bronze Age and the Ancient Near East to Modern Greek literature and the Reception of the Classical World. The Department is a well-known centre for the study of Ancient Greek and Latin literature and achieved first place nationally in the latest REF.

About the role
You will be an experienced, talented and creative teacher of Latin language and texts across a range of periods and genres. You will hold a PhD in Latin language and/or literature and your current research profile in Latin literature will enhance and inform your pedagogy. While the post is predominantly for Latin teaching, you will be able to convene and teach 'Ancient Greek language and texts at all levels as required. You will be dedicated to the promotion of ancient languages with demonstrable expertise in language teaching.
You will convene and teach language and text modules in Latin and Ancient Greek at all levels as required. You will also support the Team leader in the effective running of all teaching and assessment activities, course development, events and programmes relating to credit-bearing courses.
This is a permanent post with a full-time contract from September 2026.
