The Department of German https://www.tcd.ie/german/ in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies at Trinity College Dublin welcomes applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in German.

The successful candidate will be a specialist in 18th- and / or 19th-century German-language literature and culture with a focus on interdisciplinary research, such as, for example: Germanic and European Cultural and Intellectual History, Gender Studies, Performance Studies, Migration Studies, Memory Studies, Environmental Humanities, Medical Humanities. The person appointed will have relevant university teaching experience and a research track record appropriate to an appointment at this level.

Interviews and presentations for this competition will take place in-person week beginning 22nd June 2026. 

Post status: Tenure Track - This position is Tenure Track position which is 5-years in the first instance, permanency is subject to satisfying the tenure requirements.

Salary: Appointment will be made on Assistant Professor Merged Salary Scale (109BN) commensurate with qualifications / experience and in line with Public Sector Pay Policy [€43,425 - €103,582 per annum] https://www.tcd.ie/hr/assets/pdf/monthly-academic.pdf
