About the role
The post holder will be a member of a dynamic and growing research group under the supervision of Associate Professor Paul Elliott in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford. The postholder will be responsible for managing an independent project investigating the mechanisms of cell death, specifically the activity and regulation of several ubiquitin ligases, using a combination of protein biochemistry, biochemical, biophysical and structural biology assays. The post holder is expected to provide guidance and support within the research group to fellow postdocs, DPhil students and undergraduate project students, maintaining a strong collegiate environment.
This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Cancer Research UK for up to 12 months in the first instance.
The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
About you
You will hold or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil and have a strong background in protein expression and purification techniques, with a good understanding of the ubiquitin system. You should have experience using in vitro ubiquitination assays and have a strong background in structural biology: X-ray, NMR or cryoEM. You will have proven experience of developing small-molecule screening assays and a background in biophysical techniques for measuring protein-protein and/or protein-ligand interactions. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work with colleagues and students is essential.
