Applications are invited for a temporary specified purpose post of a Lecturer / Assistant Professor in Palaeontology within UCD School of Earth Sciences.
UCD School of Earth Sciences seeks to appoint a Lecturer / Assistant Professor (below the bar) in Palaeontology for a specified purpose, with an estimated duration of 12 months.
The selected candidate will be an enthusiastic and engaging university teacher who will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate (Earth Sciences BSc (Hons)) and Masters Programmes.
Candidates must possess a PhD and strong track record in one or more of the following areas: invertebrate palaeontology, ichnology, conservation palaeobiology, micropaleontology, stratigraphy. In addition, expertise in carbonate sedimentology, and/or the stratigraphic record of Earth system change would be an advantage. The individual will be responsible for developing and teaching a new Earth Sciences module on palaeobiology and stratigraphy, as well as contributing to existing core and elective undergraduate and postgraduate Earth Science modules. Candidates must also be willing to contribute to geology field classes and be capable of supervising final year BSc student projects. Candidates may also conduct research in areas of interest.
