The Department of Geography (incorporating the Scott Polar Research Institute - SPRI), based across two central Cambridge sites (Downing Place and Lensfield Road), is seeking a highly motivated and professional Senior Research Grants Administrator to join our Research team. The team is responsible for all grant applications, awards and monitoring within the Department of Geography, providing support to the Principal Investigators in the Department, including SPRI. 

The successful candidate will be educated to Degree/NVQ level 6 or possess equivalent practical experience. Experience in an administrative role is essential, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. You will have good communication skills, strong accuracy and attention to detail and demonstrate advanced knowledge of facts, principles, processes and general concepts related to Research Grants and Finance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word/Outlook/Excel) is essential. 

You will work collaboratively as part of the Research team to ensure the efficient and effective operation of processes related to research grants in the Department. You will act as a major point of contact for preparing applications, liaising with prospective grant-holders and central functions of Research administration, including the Research Operations Office and Finance Division. You will be expected to work proactively with academics, researchers, and departmental staff, building strong and effective working relationships to ensure the smooth running of research operations. 

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvements within the Department's research administration, bringing processes which could be improved to the attention of the Research Coordinator.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
