Applications are invited for the position of Senior Accounts Assistant within the Accounting Services Team based in the Finance Division on a Maternity Cover. This role is funded for twelve months or return of the post holder.
The Finance Division manages the financial resources of the University and the support services for the financial functions carried out by the University’s departments. This role is part of the Accounting Services section of the Finance Division which performs a range of key strategic and operational accounting and administrative duties. The Role
To provide a professional order to cash service to the University. The post holder is responsible for carrying out Accounts Receivable duties including raising customer invoice and credit notes, receipting income, and uploading of direct debit payment files.
The post holder is responsible for collating and analysing income. This includes preparing and updating the BACS spreadsheets for Sterling and currency accounts. This will allow senior management to monitor the cash position of the University, and carry out the required reconciliations on University bank accounts.
The post holder will also be responsible to support all tasks in relation to the commercial and residential tenants who are billed via Propman. These tasks include preparing files for a monthly direct debit collection, ensuring records are kept up to date on Propman, daily receipting of online card payments and weekly BACS payments. The role holder will be required to liaise with the Accommodation and Property Teams based in Estates Division, to ensure tenants records are kept up to date and where required the role holder will assist these teams with debt collection.
Your Skills
The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent communication skills and be able to relay information to a wide range of people of all levels. They will also have good organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge of standard Microsoft packages, with a particular knowledge of Excel is essential. Experience of working with the Cambridge University Financial System (CUFS) would be highly desirable, however previous experience of working in an accounts environment is essential.
