Description of Post

The post relates primarily to the teaching, training, assessment and academic administrative direction of apprenticeship including:

• Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Apprenticeship

The Assistant Lecturer will be required to comply with the policy of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology in the choice of teaching and training methods and technologies, and to undertake training to keep abreast of technological developments and changes to the SOLAS apprenticeship programmes.

• Commercial/Pack Systems
• Air Conditioning/Heat Pump Systems
• Electrical Science Review
• Electrical Installation Systems
• Refrigeration PLC/Controls
• Planned Maintenance
• Industrial Systems
• Related Craft Theory
• Mathematics
• Computing

In addition, the Assistant Lecturer will be required to organise and supervise project work, as specified to meet the Learning Outcomes of the programme.

Essential Qualifications

• Level 6 Advanced Craft Certificate or equivalent.
• Applicants must have a minimum of five years post-qualification experience.
• The person appointed must be capable of teaching Refrigeration and Air Conditioning subjects.

Project management, teamwork and leadership skills, and excellent communication skills are absolutely essential.
