About the role
We have an exciting new opportunity for an ambitious individual to join an experienced and motivated Information Assurance Services (IAS) team. You will be responsible for providing high quality legal compliance advice to University colleagues at all levels and on a range of matters supported by a knowledgeable and friendly team of colleagues.

The IAS team form part of the Legal, Governance & Information Services Division, centrally managing all statutory responses to Freedom of Information and Data Protection requests, and lead on compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR); Data Protection Act 2018; Data Use and Access Act (DUAA) 2025; and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 along with other related legislation. The team currently consists of three full-time Senior Information Assurance Officers with one post vacant, being led by the Head of Service who is also the Data Protection Officer (DPO).
We currently have hybrid working arrangements with two working days of the week on campus and other days working from home.
About you
Ideally you should have significant experience in dealing with legal and compliance issues and advising on Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Information Security matters in Higher Education, the NHS or other complex public sector organisation. However, we welcome applications from those who may have gained the necessary experience in the private or other sector and can demonstrate the aptitude to meet the challenges of this exciting role. Candidates will need excellent organisation and time management skills and the ability to manage an independent workload. Candidates should demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and fully understand the importance of confidentiality.
