This is an exciting opportunity to join the Building Services Team supporting the effective running of the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre (JCBC). JCBC is a state-of-the-art research building located on the Biomedical Campus which opened in 2019 and houses up to 900 staff.
This permanent role will be part of a team of 3 Building Technicians, with responsibilities including undertaking breakdown and/or preventative maintenance, establishing systems for routine inspections, prioritising planned maintenance, assisting with safety compliance activities and testing, and being part of an out of hours on call rota.
An additional standby honorarium (currently £4195/year) is payable plus hourly overtime for on-site attendance to cover on call duties.
We are looking for a practical, hands-on individual with a can-do proactive approach. Previous experience in a similar role, including carrying out maintenance tasks, is also essential. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate good organizational and prioritisation skills, excellent levels of communication and interpersonal skills, IT competence and ideally some knowledge of laboratory environments and/or hazards.
The post is offered on a full-time permanent basis.
