Job Synopsis
Under the current university management structures, the appointee will be a member of the University Executive Committee. The Buildings and Estates Department will support the University Senior Management team in all aspects of estate planning and management. In particular, the Department are required to contribute to the University’s strategic and corporate planning, with special focus on the physical environment and the physical resources strategy. This contribution is essential in the context of supporting the University’s teaching, research, campus life services, sports facilities and other business activities.
The appointee be responsible for leading and overseeing management of all aspects of the University’s estate, its related resources and will lead in the provision of a physical support environment commensurate with the University’s objectives and its mission of delivering excellence in teaching, research and associated commercial activity.
The appointee will lead in the provision of long-term comprehensive and integrated physical resource planning for the University, its faculties and departments, and will lead in the creation of the basis for fully exploiting the potential of the University’s physical resources.
The appointee will lead, manage and be accountable for the efficient and effective provision of comprehensive client centred services for estate planning, management and facility support activities.
The appointee will lead the delivery of university emerging Sustainability and Decarbonisation strategies in line with the 2030 and 2050 public sector targets. The appointee will be the University Climate Action and Sustainability Champion and the Energy Performance Officer.
The appointee will manage the development and implementation of the Climate Action Plan and Estate Strategy and associated activities in respect to UL’s property portfolio both existing and future developments.
The appointee will lead efforts to obtain and maintain sustainability certifications and accreditations.
The appointee will stay updated on industry trends, regulations and best practices in relation to sustainability and recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
