The Role

We are recruiting to the role of Chaplaincy Community Worker, Southlands College. This is an exciting residential role for a friendly and out-going person committed to nurturing community within a diverse and vibrant Higher Education context.

The Chaplaincy Community Worker will provide proactive and creative community work to support the mission and aims of Southlands College, founded by the Methodist Church in Britain, and the Multi-faith Chaplaincy Team at The University of Roehampton. This includes involvement in a broad range of activities that enhance our sense of community, extend religious literacy, support spiritual development within an EDI (equality, diversity and inclusion) framework, and engagement with social justice issues.

The successful candidate will have skills and experience of working in Christian ministry as a layperson, volunteer or student leader either in a church or another context, as well as a good understanding of Methodist ethos and values. They will also demonstrate a willingness to work positively with people of all faiths and none.

We anticipate this being an exciting opportunity for those wishing to discern in a practical way their own vocation within the Christian faith, exploring possible future ministries within the context of a modern university, set within beautiful grounds, with a diverse and lively student body.
