UCC wishes to appoint an academic to the role of Lecturer in Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology A/B (Scale B). Reporting to the Head of School the successful candidate will be expected to have research and teaching experience in the broad area of environmental biotechnology including, but not limited to, topics such as fungal biotechnology, synthetic biology, microbial physiology, metabolic engineering, or the study of microbial natural products. The appointee will have to contribute to, and develop where appropriate, teaching programmes to support Microbiology and environmental biotechnology within the School. The successful candidate will also be expected to establish a dynamic research programme that is associated with the research themes of one, or more, UCC Futures areas, particularly the SUSFERM Future Strategic Research Centre, a multi-disciplinary centre that hosts a state-of-the-art microbial fermentation infrastructure. The appointee will need to show demonstrable potential to develop a research programme capable of attracting external funding, notably ERC.
