About the role:

Imperial Business School invites applications for a Research Assistant (Teaching & Research Assistant) position within the Department of Finance.

This role is ideal for candidates considering future PhD study in Finance or Economics and seeking exposure to a world-leading academic research environment. Working closely with faculty members, you will contribute directly to research projects while supporting teaching and learning activities across the department.

Located at Imperial College London’s South Kensington campus, you will join a globally recognised, research-intensive university consistently ranked among the world’s leading institutions.

What you would be doing

As a Teaching & Research Assistant, you will play an active role in supporting both research and teaching activities within the Finance Department. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting faculty research projects, including data collection and analysis
  • Working with large datasets using statistical software such as Stata, R, or Python
  • Assisting with tutorials, problem classes, and other teaching support activities
  • Supporting assessments and marking in line with established criteria
  • Providing academic support and constructive feedback to students
  • Collaborating closely with academic staff across teaching and research initiatives
  • Developing your own research capability within a high-performing academic environment

What we are looking for

We are seeking motivated and academically strong candidates with a clear commitment to research and higher education.

You should have:

  • An MSc (or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
  • Experience in tutoring, teaching assistance, or other learning support activities
  • Experience working with large datasets using software such as Stata, R, or Python
  • Strong subject knowledge in finance, econometrics, economics, or a related area
  • An understanding of research methods and statistical techniques
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines effectively
