We have an exciting opportunity for a Dental Therapist to join the Department of Allied Health Professions, Sport and Exercise as a Lecturer in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. This is a full-time post. However, part-time hours will be considered. Successful applicants will be able to deliver an inspirational learning experience to our undergraduate learners.
This Lecturer post is open to Dental Therapists who are interested in educating the future workforce. You will work with experienced academic and professional services colleagues to develop and facilitate learners’ knowledge, clinical skills and professional attributes on a course that is contemporary, future-looking and enables graduates to meet the challenges of service users and service needs. Commitment to research and an innovative student-centred learning experience is essential.
You will be currently registered with the General Dental Council as a Dental Therapist. You will have either a Diploma or BSc in Dental Therapy (or equivalent Dental Therapy qualification). With a Master's degree in a relevant subject or equivalent (or ability to complete this within 12 months of taking up the role), you will be a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (or be willing to work towards this within 12 months of appointment). You will be required to enrol on a Doctoral programme within the first 12 months of appointment.
You will bring subject and practice expertise in contemporary Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. We would particularly welcome applications from Dental Therapists with an interest in research and dental public health.
The post requires experience of teaching Dental Hygiene and/or Dental Therapy to groups within a formal setting.
This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Regular status checks may also be required, depending on your role.
