The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences (NDPCHS) is looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial Professional Education Programme Lead to develop and expand a portfolio of research-led education programmes for professionals and organisations around the world. The role involves developing market-relevant, client-focused short-form courses for a range of professional audiences in healthcare and related sectors, including executive-level provision. This is a new and strategically important position created to expand our education provision beyond accredited postgraduate courses.
Reporting to the Head of Programmes, you will work in close partnership with academic faculty, professional services colleagues and a range of internal and external partners to provide strategic and operational leadership for the portfolio. You will develop and implement a clear strategy for non-award bearing Professional Education aligned with the department’s research strengths and global healthcare impact, including establishing governance, quality assurance, budgeting and performance frameworks to ensure financial sustainability.
You will lead the design and oversight of custom (bespoke/in-company) open enrolment and online or blended professional learning programmes, ensuring an excellent participant experience and strong operational delivery. You will support and shape market research activity and the development of business plans, shape proposals and lead or co-lead client engagement activity, managing relationships with organisational clients from first contact through to delivery and follow-up. You will act as a key liaison with University legal, finance and digital learning teams in relation to contracts, pricing and online provision. As the portfolio grows, there will be scope to shape and lead a dedicated team.
The successful applicant will have substantial, demonstrable experience of developing and delivering non-accredited courses for the professional market. We are specifically seeking candidates who have led or played a significant role in custom programmes for organisational clients, open enrolment provision, and online or blended course delivery models. Experience limited to accredited, credit-bearing or degree programmes will not be sufficient.
You will bring a strong track record of business development/client relationship management in a commercial or quasi-commercial environment, including experience of establishing or significantly expanding Professional Education provision. The ability to influence senior academics and external partners and a commitment to inclusive leadership are key. You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience, and be able to demonstrate sufficient understanding of the healthcare landscape in a global context to support development of this work.
