The Role
We are looking for a Lecturer in Human Geography to primarily teach qualitative methods, social and cultural geography, geographical theories, as well as leading modules and contributing where possible to multidisciplinary modules.
The role will also require engagement with at least one of the core KU domains which could be related to developing pedagogy approaches, knowledge exchange or academic research. You will also be expected to contribute to the Department’s recruitment and development activities and support work with other staff on outreach activities with external organisations and partners.
You will contribute to the research culture of the Department and the University’s objective of securing an outstanding reputation for research-informed learning, innovation and integrated academic practice.
The Person
The successful candidate must have a Doctorate in a related field or an equivalent professional qualification and be able to teach contemporary issues in Human Geography related to cultural and social issues, along with an understanding of broader geographical theories and concepts. You must also be able to teach research methods and supervise undergraduate and post graduate students.
It would be desirable to have a relevant level of UKPSF recognition, an accreditation from a relevant professional body.
It would be expected that you are developing your research portfolio with regard to income generation and/or publications. Experience of managing undergraduate modules and working in a multidisciplinary environment would be desirable.
You must also have excellent communication skills and team working experience, and be able to independently project manage set tasks and commitments to fixed deadlines.
