Do  you have expertise in basin analysis and geophysics (seismic interpretation and borehole geophysics)?

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow capable of advancing the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Science’s interdisciplinary activities.

About the role:

Teaching duties will involve:

  • Preparation for, and in-person delivery of, lectures andpracticals
  • Tutorials and fieldwork
  • Supporting students’ learning
  • Setting, marking and providing effective feedback on assessments.

There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.

This is a part time, fixed term role working 27.75 hours per week until 30/05/2027.

What we’re looking for:

  • You should have a PhD or equivalent in geosciences or a related discipline. You will be required to have in depth knowledge of basin analysis and geophysics (seismic interpretation and borehole geophysics).
  • Knowledge and / or experience of teaching in closely related disciplines (sedimentary geology, structural geology, earth resources etc) is desirable.
  • You should also possess data analysis, geospatial, modelling or related capabilities, consistent with the School’s digital ambitions.
  • You will be expected to contribute your technical knowledge and transferable skills to multidisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across the School, including fieldwork.
  • An ability to teach sedimentary geology (facies analysis, petrography, surface processes) will be desirable.
  • You should be able to work effectively as part of a programme and module team.
