About the role
The University of Leicester is seeking to appoint a Professor in Pharmacy to provide senior academic leadership within the School of Healthcare. This role will contribute to the strategic development and delivery of the University’s innovative MPharm programme, which places strong emphasis on non‑didactic teaching approaches and extended placements across the first three years of study. You will take a leading role in shaping pharmacy education, either through a teaching‑focused or teaching and research pathway, and will be expected to undertake senior responsibilities such as programme leadership or research leadership during their time at the University.
As a senior academic within a multidisciplinary School located alongside Medicine, Psychology and Biology, you will raise the national and international profile of the MPharm programme while building and sustaining productive relationships with external partners to support high‑quality placement provision and collaborative research. The role also carries responsibility for contributing to an inclusive academic culture, supporting interprofessional education, and, where applicable, developing internationally excellent research that strengthens the School’s research infrastructure and delivers meaningful impact beyond academia.
About you
You will be an established academic with a national or international reputation in a relevant area of pharmacy, science, health services research or pedagogy, holding a completed PhD and demonstrating a sustained and substantial record of world‑leading research and/or scholarly activity. You will bring extensive experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, programme leadership and assessment, together with a strong commitment to innovative, inclusive and research‑informed education that delivers excellent student outcomes. Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, or a commitment to achieve an accredited teaching qualification, is expected.
You will also demonstrate significant academic leadership experience, including mentoring postgraduate researchers and colleagues, contributing to national and international professional networks, and influencing policy, practice or public engagement activities that align with the University’s mission as a citizen of change. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion, capable of working collaboratively across disciplines, and motivated to inspire students and staff while contributing to the wider life and strategic ambitions of The University of Leicester.
