About the School

The School of Business, Computing and Social Sciences is located across three campuses in Cheltenham and Gloucester, offering distinctive and inspiring environments for learning, teaching and research. This post will be based at our £18 million purpose‑built facility at Oxstalls Campus, which provides state‑of‑the‑art technology, collaborative learning spaces and a vibrant academic community.

The Law subject area is focused on producing career‑ready graduates through teaching excellence and informed scholarship, as reflected in consistently strong student satisfaction outcomes. Law students benefit from learning opportunities beyond the classroom, including internships, client‑interviewing exercises, mooting, and participation in the student Law Clinic.

About the role 

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Law on a 1‑year fixed‑term contract, with a primary focus on teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach and act as module tutor, including leading on, at least six of the following eight modules:

  • Family Law
  • Medical Law
  • Company Law
  • Law and Ethics in International Business and Corporate Governance
  • Foundations of Law and Employability (first‑year academic skills module)
  • English Legal System
  • Tort Law
  • Lawyers’ Skills

In addition to teaching and module leadership, the post‑holder will contribute to the wider academic and student experience. This will include duties typically associated with a lecturer role, such as dissertation supervision, participation in student recruitment and outreach activities, involvement in induction activities, and contribution to extra‑curricular and employability‑focused activities.

Applicants should have experience of teaching in Higher Education, or demonstrate clear potential to deliver high‑quality teaching and assessment in a university setting.
