Launched in January 2025, the Global School of Sustainability (GSoS) is a major new interdisciplinary centre for sustainability research and impact at LSE, bringing together the wealth of social science expertise at LSE concerned with the critical questions of a sustainable future for all.

GSoS is seeking a reliable, organised and adaptable Digital Communications Officer to play a key role in maintaining and optimising the GSoS website, alongside newsletters and additional projects, developing content in line with best practice including SEO, accessibility and UX. Through effective collaboration, technical knowledge and communications best practice, the Digital Communications Officer will deliver engaging and joined-up content and campaigns around news stories and announcements, articles, blog posts, newsletters and research publications. The role will provide flexible support across the team and associated research centres and departments and will proactively contribute to the development of procedures, templates and ways of working within the role and as part of the wider GSoS team, while also playing a key role in the facilitation of the GSoS sustainability network across LSE.

This evolving role is part of the GSoS Communications and Events team and will involve close collaboration and teamwork with the GSoS network and wider LSE teams. The ideal candidate will have experience of using a content management system to manage a multi-page microsite as part of a larger, complex website, an understanding of SEO, GEO, information architecture, UX and accessibility best practices as well as experience of producing content that aligns with brand guidelines and house style. With an effective understanding of current legislation around data protection and copyright with an ability to apply this knowledge to tasks, the candidate will also have experience in maintaining accurate and up-to-date work records and metrics for clear information sharing, information management and reporting. They will also have the proven ability to translate complex research into engaging, cross-platform communications outputs for a wide range of audience, and the confidence to communicate requests, deadlines, professional advice and important information to stakeholders in an effective and appropriate manner, both orally and in writing. With strong written English and proof-reading skills they will take a proactive approach to the continued development of best practice within the role’s responsibilities, systems, procedures and ways of working and use initiative and creative thinking to solve day-to-day queries and problems.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.
