We’re looking for a Lecturer in Sport or Exercise Psychology to join the School of Natural Sciences on a fixed-term, 0.8FTE maternity cover contract for the 2026–27 academic year. You’ll contribute to the delivery of undergraduate Sport and Exercise Science programmes, providing innovative and engaging teaching in psychology modules within the Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation subject area.

The role is offered on an Education, Scholarship and Professional Practice contract and is suited to candidates who can bring professional practice or research experience into teaching and learning. You’ll support students through high-quality teaching, assessment, feedback and academic guidance, while contributing to programme delivery and the wider work of the School.

As Lecturer in Sport or Exercise Psychology you can expect to be involved in:

  • Delivering student-centred teaching and assessment across psychology modules within Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation
  • Embedding professional practice or research experience into teaching and learning activity
  • Supporting students through feedback, academic guidance and pastoral support as an Academic Advisor
  • Contributing to programme delivery, enhancement, recruitment and School activities

What will you bring to the role?

  • A degree in Sport and Exercise Science, Psychology or another relevant subject area
  • A PhD, or near completion, in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience or qualification
  • Experience delivering undergraduate teaching and assessment in a higher education setting
  • Specialist knowledge in Sport and Exercise Science or Psychology, with the ability to communicate this effectively to students
