The role
We are seeking to appoint a Student Inclusion Officer with a strong commitment to inclusive practice and an understanding of the relationship between equality and diversity, and the student experience in higher education.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the University’s commitment to an inclusive learning environment and anti-racist culture where all our students can flourish.
What will you be doing?
You will focus on improving the experience, engagement and support of students from Global Majority backgrounds, with a particular focus on home and undergraduate students from racially minoritised groups. You will lead the delivery and ongoing development of several large‑scale programmes, managing your own budget to enhance students’ sense of belonging and overall outcomes at the University. You will also advise and support colleagues across the University on inclusive practice in relation to students from racially minoritised groups. The role requires a willingness to work outside normal working hours on occasion, including some weekend activity, to support events and student engagement activities.
You should apply if
You are a strong relationship builder with experience of inclusion and supporting Global Majority students in education. Experience or personal knowledge of working with stakeholders or students from racially minoritised groups.
You have a positive and solutions-focused approach and are confident in influencing and advising a wide range of staff on inclusive practice. You are able to lead and support a team of student workers to deliver events and activities for their peers. You are keen to join a creative, motivated team that is passionate about making a difference to Global Majority students.
We are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and strongly encourage applications from candidates from Global Majority backgrounds, who are currently underrepresented in this area of work.
