About the role

We are looking for an experienced, creative and proactive Communications Manager to join the communications team in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in planning, delivering and evaluating high-quality content, campaigns and events that support the Faculty’s strategic priorities and contribute to King’s Strategy 2030.  

The successful candidate will join a small, collaborative team and report to the Faculty’s Senior Communications Manager.

The Communications Manager will work across a range of communications channels, developing a broad and versatile skill set spanning internal communications, media and PR, social media, website and events. The role requires a hands-on approach to ensure content is engaging, consistent and aligned with key messages and target audiences.

The Communications Manager will advise and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to develop and deliver effective communications activity that reaches and engages both internal and external audiences. The post holder is also responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of our communications, using data and insight to inform and strengthen future content and campaigns.    

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract

Location: Hybrid – minimum of 2 days per week on campus (Waterloo).

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience  
  • Proven track record of planning, managing and delivering successful content to successful campaigns across a broad range of communications activities (websites, social media, events, newsletters, media, publications). 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with a proven ability to adapt style for a variety of channels and audiences.  
  • Ability to comprehend complex situations quickly, providing creative solutions to ensure results are achieved, and objectives are met. Ability to manage time effectively, work flexibly, and prioritise workload. 
  • Experience of absorbing and evaluating complex information from various sources to create clear, accurate, and engaging content, preferably within an academic or health environment. 
  • Collaborative attitude to work, supporting others, demonstrating tact and diplomacy. Ability to build effective links and relationships with a range of stakeholders. 
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and how to use this data to improve future communications and influence strategy. 
  • Excellent IT skills, including the MS Office suite, databases, web content management systems and social media.    

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge and experience of working in the higher education sector  
  • A secondary-level qualification or demonstrable training in marketing, media, public relations or communications skills  
  • Experience of using the Adobe Creative Suite  
  • Experience of producing multimedia content, such as short videos
