We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Research Office as a Deputy Post Award Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and positive leader to contribute to a high quality professional service that supports the University's research community.

The Deputy Post Award Manager will lead and manage one of the post award support teams within the Research Office, overseeing a portfolio of externally funded research grants for a designated School. Working closely with the Post Award Manager, you will ensure the effective administration of research awards, from grant set up and ongoing financial management to reporting and project close out. The role requires a strong commitment to delivering a consistent, accurate and timely service to academics, departments and central colleagues.

This role comes at a time of continuing development in post award support, with ongoing work to strengthen and harmonise service delivery. The post holder will support the implementation of improved processes and ways of working, helping to embed a culture of continuous improvement within the team. You will play a key part in supporting staff through change, encouraging shared practice, developing capability and ensuring the team is well equipped to meet evolving service demands.

The role involves close collaboration with Research Development, Contracts, Finance and departmental administration, requiring the ability to build strong working relationships, exercise sound judgement and communicate complex information clearly and concisely to a range of audiences.

You should be highly organised and able to manage competing priorities, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and guide a busy team. You will bring a proactive and solutions focused approach, strong numeracy and analytical skills, and the confidence to provide advice on complex financial and regulatory matters. Experience of research grant administration and managing teams in a deadline driven environment is essential.

You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience, and have strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Professionalism, diplomacy, attention to detail and a commitment to delivering a high quality service are key to success in this role.

We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements. We will consider part-time working arrangements to a minimum of 80% FTE

We aim to support hybrid working, whilst retaining the positive aspects of our unique in-person environment and culture. Elements of this role are suitable for hybrid working, where staff can split their time between in-person collaboration and remote working.
